New Impact Launch Event at Leeds University Business School
Tomorrow evening I shall be speaking in front of 150 MBA students at the launch of the Net Impact Chapter at Leeds University Business School (UK). Net Impact’s mission is “to make a positive impact on society by growing and strengthening a community of new leaders who use the power of business to make a positive net social, environmental and economic impact”.
The theme of the event is “why is the environment and society important to business”. Also speaking is Joanne Pollard who is the Chief Executive of The Yorkshire and Humber Sustainable Futures Company. This is the sustainable delivery body of the local regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward.
We were really pleased to accept the invitation. We are keen to support academic developments in this important area and have, in the past, been a little disappointed by other initiatives we have come across. It will be interesting to learn more about the activities of the Business School. We hope to use the opportunity to encourage it to work closely with the business communities in the Yorkshire area.

Hi Tim,
Some of the ideas relating to environmental business development being the norm in the future were interesting and I’m sure that attention on business continuity and risk management in supply chains will certainly rise as uncertainties over climate change develop. I hope that businesses will continue to support academic developments in this area – I certainly believe that the Net Impact Chapter at Leeds University Business School will be invaluable in bringing together approaches from academia and business.
